Love, You: First Edition
A visual diary celebrating your constant unfolding. First edition.
Somewhere along the way, you came undone and put yourself back together. Maybe more than once. Nobody threw you a party for it. Nobody wrote it down. Maybe no one even knew it happened.
This book did.
Love, You is 365 pages of poetry, prose, essays, and photography from women across more than 13 countries, ages 30 to 85. It was photographed in Mexico City, India, Accra, New York, Atlanta, and Birmingham, with Black women and women of color as its muse. Not the backdrop. Not the supporting role. The main character.
It isn’t a book you read once and shelve. It’s one you live with. Open it to any page over morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, and you’ll meet a woman who has been where you are, or where you’re headed. It reads like a letter to yourself, from yourself.
It’s made in large format, to be looked at as much as read, closer to a gallery on each page than a book. The vellum cover catches the light, and it arrives in a keepsake box you’ll want to hold on to long after you open it.
I created Love, You through my publishing arm Urban Ivy. For the past two years, I’ve kept this last collection of first editions put away in my vault, just waiting for the right season. This is it. When these are gone, there won’t be another printing.
Place it on your coffee table. Give one to your sister, your daughter, your mother, or the friend who held you together when you couldn’t. Some gifts get used up. This one gets passed down.
— Erika Norwood
